WOOD:
Removing dust:
Dust buildup, which is made up of
small airborne particles, may scratch or dull the surface if not
removed correctly. Simply wipe the surface with a cloth
dampened with a non-wax cleaning polish or mild detergent.
Cleaning:
Fingerprints, cooking fumes, smoking
residue, etc. accumulate on any finished surface. None of these
contaminants will harm your finish, but they should be
periodically removed to restore the finish to its original
luster. Just wipe the surface with a cloth dampened with a
non-wax containing polish or mild detergent solution. Avoid the
use of ammonia based products or silicone oils as they may cause
damage if used over a long period of time. Your finish is
durable and resistant to most household spills. However, spills
should be wiped up promptly to avoid potential problems.
Excessive, prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, high
temperatures and high humidity can cause damage to both the
finish and the wood itself. These should be avoided. Following
these simple steps will keep your finished item looking like new
for many years.
Colour:
Colour and grain variations, mineral
streaks, knots and blemishes naturally occur in all wood
species. These traits are not defects and a single sample
cannot represent all natural variations. There will also be
colour and grain variations between solid door rails and veneer
door panels. We at Kirkwood utilize a higher quality finishing
technique which is meant to enhance these colour variations as
we believe it adds to the natural beauty of the finished product
VINYL:
Vinyl is a very durable finish and can be
cleaned with warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid use of
corrosive or abrasive cleaners which could scratch and/or damage
the surface. It is extremely important to avoid heat damage to
your vinyl. It is recommended that you open drawers/doors beside
your oven when using the self clean feature and that toasters,
coffee pots, etc. be pulled out from underneath the cabinets
during use.
LAMINATE:
Follow the guidelines of your specific
laminate manufacturer which have been provided to you along with
their warranty information at the time of laminate selection.
MARBLE & GRANITE:
It is the client's responsibility to obtain
use, care and warranty information for their specific product
directly from the stone supplier at the time you choose your
product.
SPECIAL NOTES:
It is extremely important that the height of
your conventional range be adjusted on installation to be above
the height of the countertop. If this adjustment is not made, use
of the range can result in damage to the countertop.
Do not overload your drawers and/or roll out
shelves. If you have any questions regarding their weight
tolerances or require additional support, please speak to your
designer.
